My name is Karyn Ard. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in northern California. I left California when I was 20 to play volleyball and finish college at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. While at Henderson I received my BSE, played volleyball and met my husband (who teaches chemistry at the high school). My husband and I moved to Texas 22 years ago. I am a mother of 2 amazing sons.
My claims to fame (as small as they are) include:
* College Volleyball All-American setter
* Henderson State University Athletic Hall of Honor 2006
* 2016 and 2018 James Logan High School Hall of Fame inductee
I have taught high school for going on 23 years.
I have taught biology for going on 22 years.
I was named the Region VII secondary teacher of the year for 2019 and a
Finalist for Texas Teacher of the year in 2019 as well.
I love teaching life sciences including biology, AP biology, forensics and anatomy and physiology.
